The Northgate Metal Bench is an attractive and durable invitation to sit and rest for awhile. These benches can be found in many locations including shopping malls, sidewalk cafes, parks, and outdoor home decks. And it has a matching receptacle that is sold separately. Shopping malls have been purchasing many of these benches because they give the shoppers a few moments to relax and then continue shopping a bit longer. Their construction and durability will assure decades of use in both indoor and outdoor environments.
The Northgate Metal Bench is built with cast iron legs and 1 1/2" steel bench straps. The individual steel straps are welded to the frame and back of the bench to form a single unit. The frame also includes arms on both ends of the bench. The cast iron legs also feature pre-drilled mounting holes for permanent surface mounting if desired. The back of the bench is straight which gives the user firm back support. In addition, the bench is available in several lengths which include four feet, five feet, six feet, and eight feet. However, custom sizes or lengths can be ordered. The weight of the bench ranges from 220 pounds for the four foot version to 360 pounds for the eight foot version.
The Northgate Metal Bench has three basic mounting options. The simplest mounting option, portable mounting, is letting the bench rest on the desired surface without any form of attachments. The bench can rest on any indoor or outdoor surface and can be easily relocated when desired. However, without any mounting, the bench is at risk of theft in outdoor locations. The second mounting option, surface mount, is usually done on concrete surfaces. Holes are drilled and anchors are installed in the concrete. The legs of the bench are then bolted to the installed anchors. The third mounting option, in-ground mount, is primarily used in outdoor locations where the bench will rest on grass or soil. Leg extensions can be bolted to the cast iron legs and these extensions will be placed in excavated holes in the ground. The holes will then be filled with concrete and the bench will have a permanent location.
The Northgate Metal Bench is covered with an extremely durable and environmentally safe thermoplastic coating. This coating, also called powder coating, is a relatively new technology and superior to conventional coatings and finishes such as paint. An electrical process is used to apply a dry powder to a base metal.
